How My Adoption Changed My Life and Inspired Others to Make a Difference.

Second Chances: How My Adoption Changed My Life and Inspired Others to Make a Difference

Today I was brought to tears as I received an email from somebody that had heard me on a podcast and heard my story about being adopted at 16 years old and how it changed my life.

I am a firm believer that life is all about perspective. For me, being adopted at 16 was the best thing that ever happened to me. It gave me a family and a place to call home. It changed my life in so many ways and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have a second chance.

The email I received today was from a family that had heard my story and were inspired to make a difference in the life of another. They had decided to adopt a 16 year old out of the foster care system and make sure that he was never faced with the same struggles that I had been. They wanted to ensure that she never had to experience the dreaded “black trash bag day”, where on her 18th birthday all of her belongings would thrown in a black trash bag and then she would be out on the streets as she is now too old to be in a foster home.

This family’s selflessness and dedication to making a difference in the life of someone else brought me to tears. I am so inspired by the fact that there are people out there who are willing to step up and make a difference in the life of another. It’s a beautiful thing to witness and I am so thankful for their kind gesture.

My story is one of hope and inspiration, and I am so thankful that I have been able to share it with others. It is my hope that my story will continue to inspire others to make a difference in the lives of those in need. We all have the power to make a difference and I am so thankful for those who have taken the time to do so.
